Secret PRO is the new addition to our office and I would like to share why we are excited about this latest technology.
The Secret PRO combines radio frequency micro needling, with CO2 fractional laser. Both technologies have been available for sometime now, but the combination of these two yield very accurate and specific results. In order to have a better understanding of why this technology is revolutionary, it will help to review some basic skin physiology.
The advantage of fractional CO2 lasers is that the energy they emit is absorbed by water. Cells are composed of 70 % water and the majority of cells located in the skin are in the epidermis. Therefore, the laser energy is absorbed superficially and causes rapid vaporization of the epidermis. Since the energy is attracted to all cells, it’s target is not specific. It is considered a comparatively “safe” system, but not a precise one.
Low energy fractional CO2 laser can improve skin texture and superficial pigmentation. To induce collagen contraction, remodeling and skin tightening, a higher energy is used to reach the less cellular dermis.
When the epidermis is vaporized, this leads to an inflammatory reaction to the underlying dermis. This dermal inflammation can result in an overproduction of melanin by melanocytes. In some dark skinned patients this can lead to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). This is an unwanted complication, so other modalities of facial rejuvenation must be considered for ethnic skin.
One of the most popular uses of fractional CO2 lasers is skin resurfacing. The laser penetrates deep into the skin, removing damaged outer layers while stimulating collagen production in the underlying tissue. This process effectively smooths fine lines, wrinkles, and crepey skin texture, offering a more youthful and radiant appearance.
Fractional CO2 lasers are highly effective in reducing the appearance of scars, including acne scars, surgical scars, and stretch marks. By breaking down the fibrous scar tissue and promoting new collagen formation, the treatment can significantly improve skin texture and minimize the visibility of scars over time.
The laser is an excellent tool for treating pigmentation irregularities and sun damage, such as age spots, melasma, and uneven skin tone. The fractional nature of the laser allows targeted treatment of hyperpigmented areas while leaving surrounding skin intact, resulting in a more even complexion.
Fractional CO2 lasers are also used for non-invasive vaginal rejuvenation treatments. This includes improving elasticity, hydration, and overall tissue health in the vaginal area, addressing concerns like dryness and mild urinary incontinence.
Thanks to its ability to stimulate collagen and elastin production, the fractional CO2 laser is an effective option for non-surgical skin tightening. Areas such as the face, neck, and décolletage benefit from this treatment, resulting in firmer and smoother skin.
Fractional CO2 laser treatments are versatile, customizable, and highly effective, making them a popular choice for both cosmetic and medical purposes.
